Commiphora myrrha A thick, resinous oil with a rich, heavy aroma. Mature skin, dry scalp; an emollient for chapped skin and open wounds. Anti-inflammatory, antifungal, astringent, gentle expectorant. Blends well with frankincense, juniper, mandarin, geranium, mints, spices, lavender. BCDIMSP
Simplers Myrrh is CO2 processed, a method that uses carbon dioxide in a supercritical state in order to extract essential oil quickly through low heat and high pressure. Because CO2 is a gas, it is completely removed when the pressure is released, resulting in a premium extract that contains no solvent residues. This method is one of the most advanced extraction processes in the world and produces extracts high in physiological activity with fragrances that come very close to the aroma of the plant, often more accurately than with steam distillation.
Simplers Myrrh is from Ethiopia where Myrrh has around 4000 years of historical use in ceremony, perfumery and medicine. Myrrh, as well as Frankincense, was so highly prized in surrounding Mediterranean and Arabic areas that not only was it worth more than its weight in gold but was used as a term of endearment, "oh, my myrrh". Emotionally, it is often said that Myrrh bridges the spiritual and physical selves.
People of the Mediterranean used Myrrh as a skin preserver and it was commonly used in facial blends. Due to Myrrh's success in keeping the skin youthful, it was also used in embalming practices by the ancient Egyptians.
